Electronic whistling changes under electric load. - octa
Any past or current owners experience a "WHISTLING" sound from behind the dash which varies in frequency.Loudest with high electrical load i.e. headlights, rear de-fogger,
heater etc.Sound varies with alternator speed.

Electronic whistling changes under electric load. - injection doc
Alternators can become electricaly noisey when they develop a fault in the windings etc, it could still be charging but best to put on a lab scope to check the wave form if you can find someone with a scope who knows how to read it. Also check all the connections & test the battery. sometimes a battery that has a dead cell will make the alternator generate a lot of noise. I have also had cars where a battery has been touched or jumped the wrong way round & caused diode damage to make an alternator whine loudley & get noiseier with the more load put on it.

Thanks for your interest Injection Doc .......Noise not coming directly from Alternator....more like behind r/h dash. Sound audible on using starter, then not noticeable until load is turned on......headlights,demister etc. Any further ideas?.
