One moral would be know when to give up. And anyway, is an Audi TT an "high end sports car" or a Golf in drag?
Ouch - £100,000 bill after failing to reject a car - rtj70
In 2004 the most expensive (before options) TT cabriolet was about £32k and less for a Coupe. And we know both are a Golf in drag. Sounds like he thought he bought a sports car but bought a Golf in drag and unhappy.

The line: He said Mr Egan had been "entitled to expect the highest standards of comfort and ease of handling" when he bought such a high-end sports car.

... no it's an Audi TT what did he expect. It's not high end nor is it a sports car. It was a well designed nice looking Audi that had to have a spoiler fitted due to handling problems.

He gambled big time... the costs on each side are higher than the car cost. If he does not get costs back but avoids paying the garage's (don't see why he should get costs) then that's more than the car was ever worth.

If he'd traded it in for something that was "high-end" he'd have got most of his money back.

People are SUCH MORONS.

And I don't just mean for wanting an Audi TT at any price, although that too of course.

I am at a loss for words.

yes but you can edit some in in the next 15 minutes. Oops - not now!

Blimey, it only took me 15 mins to realise the TT isnt really a decent handling car as the passenger... and I was driving a 306 dturbo back then!

Possible moral.

If someone tries to steal your car, call the police.

If someone offers to sue you for it, give it to them quickly!

And another muppet gets sucked in by the marketing men.

My heart bleeds.

Thanks Audi !
I wonder how many other manufacturers are going to fob off their customers with "camber sensitivity" dialled in by the engineers to enhance the driving experience ?
Ford had a similar "camber sensitive" issue with the Mk1 Mondeo. They just fixed it.
Now if only they had Audi marketing people they could have saved a fortune.

This guy needs his head examining though spending that sort of money to reject the car. Easy come, easy go.

When it comes to principles and right/wrong I'd be like that person owning a dodgey TT. But on this occasion I'd say the original TT was most certainly not a sports car and had handling you'd expect. The new one is better but not a sports car either...

Me thinks (to annoy the grammar police) he is complaining about a poor handling car when he thought it would be better. Had he driven one on an extended test drive he'd have probably never bought one, camber sensitive or not.

I'd have liked one and accepted the handling. Classic styling in my opinion. Not a sports car though. Even the need to fit a spoiler was stupid - people drove them too fast and thought 4wd would keep them on the road. No when you lose traction you lose traction and in 4wd that might be at a faster speed.

No when you lose traction you lose traction and in 4wd that might be at a faster speed.

No, when you lose grip you lose traction & grip level is not dependent on the number of wheels driven. A common fallacy.

PU - you can't mean lawyers are ready to profit from ordinary people's stupidity! That sounds so cynical... Oh, hang on... What am I saying?

I love the Appeals Court Judge saying "You've all gone completely cuckoo".

They normally use very dry language, but it's heartening to see them entering into the frivolous spirit of the occasion.

PS I also really like the edit button, so that I can add a gratuitous postscript. Many thanks to the programmers!

He must be completely nuts! did he ever try driving it on the right hand side of the road to see if it drifted right cause if it did it just mean't it was camber sensative.Audi TT aint worth loosing any sleep over let alone 100k. Definatley won't use him as an accountant!

Just to think how pleased his client base would be, what would be really interesting would be his sales pitch to the new owner...

For sale one Audi TT below average.... new tyres... some service history ....reluctant sale.

I used to think my Almera had a "left-deviation" fault, but having driven in the right-hand lane of steeply cambered dual carriageway, it drifts to the right when you let go of the wheel. Had the idiot in this case considered that keeping at least one hand on the steering wheel would've prevented it from drifting in any direction?!

Deserves the £100k bill, and I certainly wouldn't use him as an accountant either! As for "high end sports car"....that really shows what planet he's on! "Hairdresser's Porsche-substitute" wouldn't be far off the mark.

Just what I was thinking. What a clown, firstly for paying that much for a third rate car and secondly for arguing when it seems he knows nothing about cars anyway......

I couldn't care less with what car the guy drives, I feel sorry for him because he's stood up for what he believes is the correct thing. The fact is that the car didn't drive how he liked, and the dealership wasn't good at handling his case thats why it ended up in court. You don't like something you've bought from Argos take it back in 16 days and you get a full refund, Daewoo cars used to do a similar thing, cars are products like anything else. We need stronger lemon laws here in the UK and much better PDI checks from the supplying dealers.

and the price of cars goes up because people "change their minds" and take it back for no good reason.

Argos don't give you the opportunity to test a toaster before you buy and they don't cost thousands. I don't think you're comparing apples with apples.

Well the car cost 35k and this legal case cost 100k, which would have been cheaper?
How many customers does Richer Sounds keep every year because of their great customer service? How many people complain about garages and their cars? If you treat the customers better even if they are wrong you may find JH that the cost for the company goes down.

Cars are nothing special don't be deluded by the hype, advertising and marketing. Why do you need salesmen to sell cars, to put the price up and keep the quality of service poor!

Get rid of all this red tape and sell cars in the supermarket next to the DVD's.
