I live pretty close to the A131 in Essex and the last few months has seen the dualling of our previously single carriageway by pass. The disruption wasn't too bad and I was almost looking forward to a new stretch of road - but what a disappointment! Although they've used the "quiet" tarmac stuff, the bumpiness of the road is unbelievable. You would think a combination of technology and Highways Agency quality control might have produced something acceptable but it really comes across as a bodge job.
In addition, the entire road was opened on its due date accompanied by an amount of pomp - local councillors, press, possibly a majorette etc etc...and then was promptly coned back down to single lane and resurfaced for the following month.
Nothing more to add really....been festering about it for a week.
