The Mondeo (not sure if l or ll) in 96 came as a 2.0 4x4. Clearly we are in banger territory, but is there any reason why the 4x4 version is a bad buy? The would be buyer needs to have occasional 4x4 use without needing ground clearance. The alternative would be a Legacy, but at that price they seem to be sold by people without brick-built homes.

ive never had one but would consider they are pretty complicated for a banger, also petrol chewers if they are like the old grandads
can i suggest a subaru justy?i had one on a p reg i think it was and regret selling it, i couldnt get it to lose grip on anything and only a 1300cc 4 potter

Mondeo 4x4 seems to be very thin on the ground. Can only find 1 on Autotrader in the whole of the country........
Seems alright though - tinyurl.com/3x2mdp - 96 N, 1 owner, 104k, £799
