Just bought a Clarke parts washer.
The instructions say not to use flamable liquids.......
Can I use diesel ?.........
Or can I use water with some cleaner added?

Kerosene.....?...anyone?
|
Not as daft as it sounds.
Where I work we use kerosene to wash down fuel pumps!

|
If it was me I'd use kerosene, I think the maker is just covering their back against an increasingly stupid and litigious population.

How about Gunk or Jizer?

I think they are both flamable Dave.

If you look at the parts washers on the Machine Mart web site, they point to this item as an "accessory"

Can't vouch for the Gunk, but according to blurb on the Jizer website, it has a high flash point. My local motorbike shop (before it closed down) had a jizer bath in the corner for washing down engine parts.

Paraffin, used it on my motorcycle chain for years and it is kind to the rubber o rings.

I've got one of these and used the clarke concentrated solvent stuff. It's seems just like concentrated washing up liquid and i've not found it man enough. (It does clean your hands well though!) I emptied it yesterday as it was filthy and am toying with the idea of paraffin myself. Its always worked well for me and dirt does sink in it if you leave it, so to me this would be pump friendly too. Decided - i'm going for it!!
