Must admit I'm impressed having seen some pics of the Ceed SW, I think it's better looking than the hatch - anyone else seen it? If I were wanting a new medium-size estate it'd be top of the list.

Kia need to give the Ceed SW the option of a 2.0 diesel to match the opposition: if they can also undercut the others they could do well with it.

Should happen at some point; the closely-related Hyundai i30 has a 2.0l, 139BHP chain-cam diesel option.
Really that's what this car needs; more engine options. I understand that Hyundai have a 200BHP+ warmed up 2l petrol variant in the works, but they need to get these engines to market sooner rather than later.
|
Think I saw this car in the dealership last week - didn't look too closely but the SW may already be in the showrooms

It's about as impressive as a shiney fridge freezer.
Which I guess, given its target market, is Kia's intention. A white good if I ever saw one, though.
|
I sang yesterday at the Hyundai distrubutors dinner here in Frankfurt, and they had plastered the opera house with banners of the i30 and i30 estate. No other model was on display* - probably says something about how important this car is to them.

How can you say that without driving it? Isn't a Focus just a white good? After all they both do the same job (and the Kia's engines should actually be better than the Ford's). Pure anti-Korean prejudice by someone who's too ignorant to even test-drive one!

Why is this surprising, coming from the same country that brings you the EU/Metric thread on this forum!!

Must admit I'm impressed having seen some pics of the Ceed SW I think it's better looking than the hatch -
I think it was designed by someone from Renault. Trouble is it was the one who tacked the half a conservatory on the back of the laguna Mk1, called it an estate and then got sacked.
If I were wanting a new medium-size estate it'd be top of the list.
Its not on top of my list, its some way after "time to stick pins in eyes"

Ahhh but if it had a different, more European badge...?

> Its not on top of my list, its some way after "time to stick pins in eyes"
lol. Coming from the person who chooses the Leon's more frumpy and ungainly sister.....
|
Frumpy! FRUMPY? UNGAINLY?
The leon is like Naomi Cambell, the Altea is like Marilyn Monroe
That Ceed is too short behind the rear arch, the lower hatch too flat and upright.
It looks like it was once nice and then got hit by a Leyland Titan bus.

Perhaps if it didn't cost as much as Mondeo Estate? ;)

and just before another Tourvan?! ;-)
It probably is an automotive white good. I don't think too hard about the dishwasher but it does the job... :-)

Incidentally Citroenian, how are you getting on with your Ceed?
|
Really liking it - only done about 650 miles so was holding off before writing anything.
Biggest pain is swapping between the cars - the indicators are on the "wrong" side - I keep flashing people when I want to wash the screen and indicating with the wipers. And my brian is so fuddled that it does this in whatever car I'm in now.
I'll write a bit more when I've found my tin hat to protect me from the inevitable flack!

Fair enough, will be interesting to hear what you have to say about it, because you're far more objective than anyone else is likely to be. You haven't actually bought one, but you're clearly not a Kia-hater either.
I thought they were repositioning the indicator switch for the UK market?! My old Sunny had indicators on the right, and both my then g/f's Pug and Mum's Vectra obviously had them on the left. Slipped up a couple of times, but surprisingly easy to switch between cars after a while. Not a problem with current car because Nissan got all European. Technically speaking, RHD cars should all have them on the right of course ;-)

I thought they were meant to be changing that for the European market?
I have the same problem with the work van, Suzuki Super Carry (not sure what's Super about it), and I keep flashing people when I want to wash the screen and indicating with the wipers.

Yes. Happily tho the old suffolk punch mower is much better looking than the Ceed estate.
(and the Tourvan)

Since we're into unforgotten mistakes....you ought to drive one and get your own back.
Sorry :)

and it has to be said, the Laguna still looked better than the ceed estate *after* it was driven into a bus.

The cee'd sw is very nice and good vehicle. Here in Slovenia it is one of the most affordable wagons avaliable at the market. SO it is selling very well here.
What are the numbers of cee'ds sold in UK?
Did you already see it's three door sporty sibling? Look here: www.kia-world.net/index.php/2007/11/23/kia-pro_cee.../
