I would very much like to think there is another side to this story. If it was indeed as told in the article then it's quite shocking.

Quite unbeliveable reading if the story is accurate. I can belive it in this day and age with paper work being the main culprit. Best we all get tasers then & armoured vests so we can fight back

Imagine the scene:
Lads in car on the way home from a night on the toot, car breaks down, so they start walking. Police car pulls up, and as it's stopping one of the more inebriated tries to have a laugh by running into the way of the car. The driver tries to avoid him, but goes over his toe.
Unlikely? Try a night out in any of Britain's major cities any weekend, and you'll believe it could happen.

The 'story' is not yet complete as the fine may yet be withdrawn.
If the police car was driving fast enough for the guy to not be able to see it and jump out of the way he would have more than a broken foot! More like a broken leg as well. Looks like some stumbling was involved.
|
If you read the story you might see that the pedestrian was on the pavement when the police car mounted said pavement and struck the pedestrian. Hardly fooling about on the road. Looks more like the police car, in an effort to stop assumed wrong-doer, mounts the pavement to block the way.

Absolutely. The police driver miscalculated and went too close. It is quite clear that it was entirely his fault.

And plod wonders why respect for them is at zero level? Dear me.

He doesn't have to take the ticket.
He is said to have run into the police car.
He can have his day in court if he feels aggrieved. But I can't see any copper issuing a ticket in the circumstances this "businessman" describes.
As someone has already said, "two sides".

if it was in the sun the headline would read
"long arm of the law gets a crush on business man"
possibly?
|
Is it a case of the policeman covering himself re the damage - "he ran in to me gov !"?
|
|
I expect he's literally hopping mad.

Sounds to me like the copper in question is a right so and so. I guess it only takes one idiot to make them all look like idiots. I bet he is getting his leg pulled by his colleagues and some comments about painting a small pedestrian symbol on the side of this car. Let's hope the force do the right thing (assuming of course that the story is as presented in the link).
