Yuk! First car I've ever seen that needs lipstick.

Oh dear.
Thay've actually managed to produce a car more overstyled and ugly than a French offering.
An achievement indeed!

Hmmm. How predictable that Mr "ooh aren't Renaults stylish" has to pitch with such an original remark.
At least Daewoo owners don't get a hard-on over such obviously gimmicky design details.

This is a very amusing comment. Largely because it couldn't possibly be more predictable and less original than "Thay've actually managed to produce a car more overstyled and ugly than a French offering."
Ever heard the saying "People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones"? Or to put it another way "People accusing others of being over-defensive should endeavour not to be massively over-defensive themselves in the very same post". First version probably has the better ring to it.

All Mitsuoka cars are bizarre - they take K11 Nissan Micras (for example) and restyle them to look like 1950s Austins. Hopefully the hideous reworkings will stop now the far east has some genuine British cars of its own to play with ;)

Yes, because of course all the Orientals are the same aren't they?
Bit like saying Renault buys Nissan, so VW have some Japanese cars to play with...

What I was trying to suggest is that the MG and Rover cars being built in the far east for the first time still have hints of British retro styling about them, and might be a more desirable alternative for consumers interested in classic looks that some of the odd looking re-engineered efforts. That's not to say that the rebuilt ones might not be superior cars in most technical respects, but they really do look bizarre:

"MG and Rover cars being built in the far east for the first time "
Just to be totally pedantic --- Datsun/Nissan actually built Austin 7s under licence between t'wars. :-)

To be reallly really pedantic, an Austin7 is not an MG or Rover is it

I thought you were busy drinking.
OK slightly pedantic

It's more vulgar than ugly, certainly not my cup of tea. Wouldn't be too bad if they did something about that front grille.

Looks like a Batmobile with a roof.

Looks like a Batmobile with a roof.
They say:
"Styling features include a rippled bonnet, bulging wheelarches and a swept-back roofline resembling that of the Jaguar XJ220 and McLaren F1."
To keep your attention
"......showcased a convertible version of the Orochi, The Nude, last year. However, it's still unclear whether or not the rag-top will make it to production."

Blimey {blasphemy removed}, Henry - where have you been browsing?
Mind you, I saw an ad in my Sunday supplement for the Peugeot 4007, which is almost as bad...

Simply in Autocar while SWMBO was shopping.
I made a note of the name and thought my HJ friends should be made aware.
I have not had an answer to my subject question.
I think it makes the SsangYong Rodius look pretty so I vote that the Rodius is demoted :-)
|
"I think it makes the SsangYong Rodius look pretty"
Err maybe after a bottle or two of wine. There's uggly and this thing we both saw in Autocar.
|
Hey! it's a "happy" looking car!, just the thing to cheer you up first thing in the morning on a snarled-up drive to a grotty office in darkest tokyo or where-ever!, Allegedly modelled on the happy-smiley face of your (kimono-clad) P.A that greets you when you get there.
But personally - e-by-gum it's ugly!!! blasphemous comment removed

This is from the people that grafted a faux Jaguar Mk2 front onto a Japanese econobox, and later did something similar resembling the Jaguar XJ6 Series 1.
The swear filter inhibits my true feelings but,
Mmmmf, I think I'm feeling a little unwell...

It's no looker, but at least it's original and not a clone.
Guess you'd have to see it in the flesh to really judge...

I must admit I have always rather liked the idea of having a Mitsuoka on the grounds that if you must drive a Micra then it might as well be one that looks a bit different. Having said that, the Viewt is a bit ungainly and odd in the metal but some of their past and present mid-size offerings are quite stylish. Virtually all are available as 4x4s if you want to upset the ecofriendly. And if you just want to demonstrate taste reminiscent of Liberace or the Addams Family, go for the Le Seyd.

The black one looks like H. R. Gieger's alien.
|
Apart from the hideous grille, I quite like it. Agree with Big Bad Dave, has a certain Giger-ish look to it.
Cheers

Kind of a pout, more attractive that the 4007 toothy grin, the Citreon Crosser is sooooo much better looking that its brother.
|
I agree it has a Giger-ish organic shape, looks like it has come straight our of a Manga cartoon, but its not my cup of tea.
The problem IMO is that it hasnt got the 'go' to match the outrageous looks. It doesnt need to be hideously powerful but could do with substantially more than 231bhp. Its being billed as a supercar but 0-60 in 7 seconds is not going to worry Ferrari!
;o)
|
The concept was allegedly based around a Honda NSX which does qualify as a supercar.
I can't see the Alien connection, although I can in this motorbike:

Kind of a pout
Why do I get the idea that the convertible was influenced by Penelope Pitstop's Wacky Racer...?
|
I don't think I want one myself, but why do people hate this thing so much?
It looks like something from a children's animation, granted. It is a fine example of busy over-styling. But apart from that it isn't especially offensive or ill-proportioned. Reminds me stylistically of the Lotus Elise actually.
I do dislike doors that open at a silly angle though.
