My brother in law has a ST200 (V plate) and the gas peddle won't return to it's position. He's had a little look but can't seem to find a spring missing. What could be the problem???

IIRC there are two cables to the accelerator pedal, one from the pedal to a box that is something to do with the traction control and one from this box to the throttle body. Check both cables and the connections inside the box.
