Just been in to see my local Chrysler dealer about a 300C. Dealer tells me that the V8 Hemi may soon be discontinued due to lack of demand and very honestly told me not to rely on being able to sell it for any money in 5 years time! Demand for the 3.0 diesel remains high (very unlikely to get a new car on a 57) and is the only model second-hand buyers are interested in. Lack of demand for Hemi borne out by a sub £19k car showing on the Chrysler approved used-car site. Goes without saying this will be a great 2nd hand buy if you can live with the low mpg.

Assuming an LPG conversion is possible and you like the styling (I do I know many who don't) then a 300C with the Hemi is a much better car than the diesel.

I understand that 'fully loaded' HEMI's with every possible extra on them are retailing for about £25000 (& less) i9f you shop around.
At that rate, they are a much better value purchase than the CRD.
However, when you come to trade it in, in a few years time, it could be scary wallet/empty pocket time.
I've driven a HEMI, before buying my CRD - its a wonderful driving experience, only put off by the hefty running costs. But if I chose to afford the depreciation/petrol costs/tax disc etc, etc, I'd have an SRT8 tomorrow, whip off the badges and have a great time.
But until then, I'll stick with Arnie (who's still performing absolutely perfectly)

Bristol make a dual petrol/LPG model of their main car, and they use Chrysler engines. You could talk to whoever does their LPG stuff. Dual fuel HEMI might be a nice car, as OH suggests.
|
well if bristol do it, thats a very good reason to steer clear of it.

Most people who wants/can afford a 2nd hand car, will not want massive road tax & fuel costs.
Any car that falls into next years £400 p.a. Road Tax will surely be pretty much worthless after 5 years.

Woo Hoo!! So for a rise of just £10 per month in Road Tax I can get my hands on a HEMI nice and cheap! Roll on the road tax rise! :-)
From what I can gather my current Mondeo will fit into the £400 bracket next year, good thing I only paid £2,200 for it!

No, it won't. Will only apply to cars registered after April 2006.

What's goping on here? it was only a short while back that we were being told that these cars had low depreciation?

pay attention young (?) man, pay attention.
Its the CRD that had (has) very, very attractive depreciation rates (that matched the cars looks :) :))

Marvellous, I'll be asking the DVLA why I was charged £165 for 6 months tax at the Post Office lately then on the grounds that "it's one of those gas guzzlers isn't it?".

Result!
I've been overcharged by over £60, just need to send them a copy of the tax disc along with a covering letter in exchange for a refund of the difference. :-)
