my throttle cable connection (carb end) broke off this morning at the lights on a busy duel carriage way, i managed to limp around the corner to a side street with the choke fully out, problem is it looks like i will have to replace the whole carburettor for the sake of a broken plastic connector, or is there a simple solution to this problem by the way its a weber TLDM...thanks

Ring and ask for your local dealer or look in the dealer list. Part shouldn't be more than a couple of quid.
What part is it by the way? Is it the round sprung item that the cable wraps around?

the part that has broken is the black plastic actuator arm that holds the accelorator cable via a nipple end, it sort of fits around the sprung part that i suppose opens and closes the flap in the caburettor the chap at the scrapyard reckons i will need to replace the whole assembly as in replace the whole carb?

I would go and speak to your weber dealer first before worrying about getting a new carb. Weber's own list of spares is quite exhaustive www.webcon.co.uk/Downloads/W05.xls so you're in with a chance.
Next question would be why it broke in the first place. Possibility is that the cable was becoming taught at full throttle owing to mal-adjustment where the cable sheath clips onto the carb, thus stressing the component.

hi, after a few browses on the interweb and a phone call i managed to find a weber specialist in the town , went down there today with the remnents of the broken linkage and hey presto the man in the shop after some rummaging around found the part i required , its actually the throttle cam that had broken the piece that hold the cable from the accelorator pedal £ 10.00 + vat for a bit of plastic, oh well at least i didnt have to get a new carb from the scrappy ( £30.00) !!
