Can't beat a bit of panic buying!!

It's an excuse to raise prices not a reason for higher prices, the cost of the oil makes up a small fraction of our pump price.
Were we not taxed so heavily oil could QUADRUPLE in price and we'd pay less for petrol than we do now..

I may be mistaken but isnt there another tax hike due in Sept / Oct? I seem to remember in GB's last budget he riased petrol duty 2p per litre but deferred it until the autumn? If so it will be a double whammy.

*Rushes off to panic buy* "I'll take 2000 litres - don't worry I brought some saucepans to put it in and the bath's empty at the moment".
* Oh hang on a minute I've just remembered that the house was flooded recently and the saucepans and bath were filled with tap water before the mains water was turned off - blast it! Damn Government get you every which way....
* No offence meant to anyone who has suffered recently with the appaling flooding - it must be awful for you.

No doubt Number Cruncher can do an off-the-cuff breakdown of price of petrol and diesel to the refiner at the refinery, tax, and upstream and downstream oil company profits, far from negligible one imagines...Sorry NC but I won't do the research myself unless someone pays me.

>>off-the-cuff breakdown of price
Shudder!
Sorry Lud, beyond embarassing and antagonising the local building society staff with my mortgage spreadsheet, I don't do financial calculations for "fun". Stress, acoustics, vibration, dynamics, and vehicle performance calcs, now that's much more interesting!
