Travelling off on the m.m family hols late today.
If this predicted severe weather did arrive is there any part of the A1 between Stamford and Durham that actually floods in such downpours?
Thanks,
David

Yes, the A1 was completely closed a few weeks ago in at least two places. IIRC around Newark and Dishforth.

Me too. What about the M11, the A14 and the A1 from Peterborough. Just as far as Barnard castle this afternoon. Ugh.

Well, I live near Bishop Auckland, and there's very little flooding up here, if any. Once you get through Yorkshire I very much doubt there'll be any surface-water at all.

Just driven from Stamford on the A1 to warwick.
The A1 is mostly dry little rain that far east as yet (09:00). The newark flood that closed the A1 was some days after the main floods as the trent burst its banks. (just north of Newark)
The M6 from Jun1 M1 is very heavy with spray and deep surface water, as is the A46 south of coventry, Passable tho

A15 closed by floods near Folkingham (North of Lincoln?). I used the the A15 3 weeks ago to avoid the A1 closure caused by flooding near Newark. Up to date info on the net - Google for Highways Agency.

Nice and dry up here in Durham.
Enjoy your stay.

Thanks GM... sadly I think we may be towing the weather with us all the way to Fife!
