Panic Mechanics TV tonight. - David W
Seen what's going to be on BBC2 at 8pm tonight?

New series called Panic Mechanics where teams of experts/enthusiasts construct various vehicles from something else.

Tonight should see a Daimler 420 Hearse transformed into a Dune Buggy....yes really.

Watch and weep/report/praise as required.

I suppose this is the pre-cursor to the latest Fen sport craze, is it? I can just imagine one of the hearse buggies giving those blooming great tractors a run for their money.

I wonder how many of the stiffs are having a secret chuckle!

There's a garage not ten mins up the road with two for sale if I'm ever tempted.

Rip-off of Scrapyard Challenge/Junkyard Wars on C4.

Anybody want to place a bet on when the next original program will appear on the BBC?

Don't be tempted. They rust too, as seen on TV!

The Junkyard Wars with the cannon was the good one.

Cheers,

Well I enjoyed it. And I liked the guys they got involved.

I thought it was good too. They both made good jobs of changing the cars.

Stuff changing the cars! Did you see the big one sideways in the sand? What a hoot. Madame (to her chagrin) accidentally videoed the programme and I replayed the race a few times until Madame and my daughter beat me up and took the remote off me.
More, please. (Panic Mechanics, not beating up)

Did anyone else spot the green one breaking down with fuel problems and then being repaired with a new rotor arm.

Wha?
Re: Panic Mechanics TV tonight. - Andy S
Yes, I did spot that. I gave them the benifit of the doubt. Perhaps the fuel pump was leaking a little but was not the real problem which ultimately turned out to be the rotor arm

Must be in charitable mood today. Friday! Yippee!!

A pleasant bank holiday weekend to all!

The show has been on over here for several weeks now and we get 2 30 min shows each week... yes it is a half inch of Scrapheap but with these problems.

1. The presenter is one of those over the top types and not a patch on Robert L. of scrap heap (still he is a huge improvement on the idiots we get lumbered with for Junkyard wars over here).

2 the Panic show has a 2 day build with a budget of between £2000 and £2500 per team Scrapheap has a 'salted' scrap yard and 10 hours to build... panic crams the 2 days of build (the interesting part) the silly games and the final race into a 30 min show... while Scrapheap has an hour to show us what happened.

4 best shows so far IMO have been the Gravity racers built from old escort vans and the track racers built from old Range rovers the designs of the gravity racers were esp interesting and different

5 the show really needs a 60 or even 90 min time slot to highlight the design and build part and it needs to drop the silly games and get a petrol head as presenter to be 'all that it can be'

Scrapheap Challange is still the best from my point of view with this one following. The other thing with Lee the "comic" is crud, I only watched one all the way trough and part of another before I realised it was a put up.
