Hi,
Just changed the shocks on my old Triumph stag and now get a rattle noise from the top of the suspension, any ideas ?

Front or rear?
Rear is straightforward, just a matter of the nut tightening sufficiently to clamp the bush.
Front - did you just replace the shock absorber, or the whole assembly? Was the top bearing OK? Can you feel any play if you grasp the top of the spring up inside the turret?
Was the gland nut tightened properly?
I believe there are different specifications of shock absorbers, and some need pads inside the tube to get the spacing right.

Did you replace the top mounts? as there is a sleeve bearing in each mount, which is not supplied with the new mount and has to be inserted.

I must have replaced about 30 dampers/shock absorbers over my lifetime, mostly on the rear of a Dolomite Sprint. One replacement VW rear damper rattled like mad from new, it was a problem inside the damper.
