revolutionised the carbuying process.
They appear to revolutionised their website, but not the actual buying process.
Very sleek, and lots of good looking video, but I couldn't find specification (they type of stuff printed in the back of a brochure).
I'll bet they aggressively edit their forum!!

I've looked at the Fiat site, but it takes so long to do its stuff that I gave up. Still slow. Same with Hondas site: too much Java or whatever does the gimmicky round selection menu!
|
I use Firefox on an 8Mb (nominal) broadband connection and it's pretty slick.
I didn't notice the menus at the top of the page at first, though.
|
It's far too busy for me.
Might suit an enthusiastic Grand Theft Auto player though :o}
|
Its a very slick good looking fast loading web site. Nothing more than a very slick good looking fast loading web site tho. Revolutionised nothing as far as I can see.
This from an *advanced* GTA - SA (with mods) player.

I would say it's evolutionary at best.
I would be highly unlikely to use it to buy a car unless I'd already been into a showroom. If I'd been into a showroom and not even considered placing an order, you have to ask what the people in the showroom were doing, if they are not selling?

in the best muppets show tradition " i didnt like it"
TOO MUCH NOISE in the introduction
|
Similar to - but jazzier than - what Honda has been doing for some time on their website.
I found it slightly curious that they felt it necessary to read out the blurb as well as showing it.

evening Waldorf, how's Statler?

Those forum comments are obvious stooges - they read like a local radio ad for anti-perspirant
"Have you see the new Fiat 500 yet, I can't wait."
"Yeah mate, it looks fab"
If Fiat can only muster about 12 postings over the course of a few days they must be making a complete cobblers of their on-line marketing.

I'll bet they aggressively edit their forum!!
They've got little choice really. If left unchecked the forum will become a place for people to post about all the faults on their Fiat. Since satisified customers have no reason to go to a forum, they tend to convey the impression that the vehicle/manufacturer being discussed is very unreliable.

When I visit a website I want to wander through and pull up the information I want - I don't want to be preached at by a video clip I didn't ask for with leading language rather than facts, and I definitely don't want a barrage of sound while it's happening. I don't mind having the stuff in there, but only on demand please.
The configuration tool also has a major issue IMO in that it doesn't show you the price of options unless you add them first, and I don't think anyone is meek enough to think 'oh well, I've added it now.. I'd better pay for it regardless'.
Is it even possible to 'revolutionise' the car buying process? You can smooth off the rough edges, but most of the work is going to be research and arranging the best finance and neither of those are likely to be in the domain of the dealership.
|
Don't like too much java/flash type stuff on sites - it also seems to need cookies for everything. Dealer locator didn't seem to work ,even when I enabled cookies. Deffo don't like 'sounds' at all. For simple slickness & general all round browser compatibility: BMW site is best, Honda about the worst. It's odd - I think there's a wierd correlation thing going on with cars/sites: the website usually mirrors the +/- points or perceptions of the cars themselves.

The kind of website I detest.. DETEST.
Noise and flimflam at the start... avoid like the plague.
Carp.. spells CARP.

Good marketing spin - will attract a lot of attention as they are marketing it as revolutionary people will defiantly look; certainly worked here. By posting it here they have probably generated another 15,000 views from the lifetime of this thread alone.
Good to co-inside with their new models.
