this is a relay for heated seats on a 1997 golf
i need it spelling out in idiot terms what each pin does
i.e # H= LIVE, 31 =EARTH AND SO ON

slight tweak to subject line - PU

That looks to be more than just a relay - I think it is also the controller. I would guess:
T: Live from switch
P/86: Connections to sensing element in seat
15/H: Connections to heater element in seat
31: Earth
Never seen one before though, so could all be a fabrication.... :-))

Is it illogical? It must be Citroen....

Logically that looks right to me. Sensible call.

thanks richardvw
could you elaborate on the seat connection at all? as in which would be earth and which would 12v+
the pads also have a 2 wire heat sensor if that helps at all
|
The heat sensor should just be wired across the pins I noted above - if there are 4 wires to the pad, the heater wires will probably be fat ones, the sensor wires thinner. The heating pad should, I guess, be wired live (+12V) to the relay (fused, from the seat switch), switched live from the relay to the element, earth the element locally - it probably doesn't matter which of the wires is +12V and which is earth. TBH if you are considering retrofitting this, and not confident with what you are doing, I would entrust it to someone who is, otherwise there's the potential for your seat to catch fire (which would be a bad thing, particularly if you were in it at the time....!!).
