Hi, isome how managed to put diesel in my petol engin ( Peugeot 205 xs 1989 ), i got most if not all the diesel out and put petrol in but now it just wont fire up, any ideas.

The spark plugs will probably be oiled up, take them out and clean them with solvent or pop them in the oven for 10 minutes, pop them back in, then turn the engine over with the accelerator pedal fully down until she fires.

In the olden days, we would have dragged it on a rope behind one of our big vans until it fired up.
mmmm, since its 18yrs old.........
How about taking the plugs out, heating them on a stove and putting them back in?

take the carb off and clear it of the diesel with fresh petrol and then run car up and keep it running for a while to clean the system
or
give it some snuff and a bit of therapy

Fouled plugs remove all of them and get 2 friends to help, place a thumb over each plug hole and crank for 30 seconds 6 times. This may clear your carb bowl, If you can smell petrol clena plugs in petrol dry and replace and see if she will fire up. A carb strip may require a gasket set. Regards Peter
