a friend has one of these and finds that the two electric radiator fans don't work on low speed - high speed setting is ok. Anyone any experience of these? all normal checks ok, fuses, connections etc - doesn't look like much room for manoeuvre under that bonnet.

I have seen this on many Golf/ bora variants and is usually a fault with both fan motors.But may be a good idea to check the hi-current strip fuses located in the plastic fuse box attached to the top of the battery cover .Also check connections to the fan control relay situated under the battery tray.

all fuses and connections were checked thanks - all looks good and metered ok.

just had a reply back - someone else pointed him at the same website yesterday afternoon. One of the techy's at work made the resistor/heatsink up for him and they fitted it last night, he says it works a treat.
