In April/May 2005 Mercedes-Benz carried out a high speed test run at Laredo Texas.
The cars were 3 new (or just about to be released in Europe) 320CDI E Class saloons. Each car covered 100,000 miles at an average speed of around 140 mph.
I am trying to find some detailed information about the test, which was observed by the FIA. I have Googled, but the info. that I have found is press relese type stuff.
Does anyone know where I can find more detail please? I am interested in things like fuel consumption, problems, repairs etc.

Strange comment here:
"At just under 250 km/h (around 154 mph), the car seems much happier, even happier than at the 235 km/h speed used for the test ? a speed the engineers determined was optimum for fuel economy, wear-and-tear and driver safety"
But the economy was only "nearly 18 mpg. "
Doesn't seem like 235km/h can have been optimum for economy, even if those are US gallons.
