Am going to have a crack at changing the rear anti-roll bar bushes (Mk2 1.8 petrol) to cure horrible knocking over uneven roads, this weekend. Having never touched suspensions parts before, any tips advice from anyone with experience of what at face value seems a simple job?? Thanks!

Plenty of WD-40 on the bolts and leave to soak, preferably overnight, they have a tendency to shear off, leaving the threaded bit in the floorpan.

In general, working on the "undercarriage" of a car is different to working on the mechanical bits in the following ways: -
1 Access is limited by ground clearance.
2 The fasteners tend to be corroded in place.
3 Bushes tend to be corroded in place.
It is worth spending a bit of time using penetrating oil/fluid on all the fasteners which need to be undone, oil one day, repeat following day.
Try to get the vehicle raised to a sensible height and supported SAFELY.
If there is a lot of mud/dirt etc in the area, clean it away first. Every piece is targetted on your eye!
Use well fitting spanners/sockets etc, the bolts will be tight.
I don't know the Mondeo specifically but if the bushes are metallastic and well corroded in place you may well have to cut them out.
Be prepared to use the correct language for the correct occasion and have some plasters ready for skinned knuckles!

With biggish bolts that have become corroded it can sometimes be helpful to give them a couple of hard bangs with a hammer after applying penetrating oil for a couple of days. Of course there is a risk of breaking them or burring the heads, so care needs to be taken.
Heat can help too, but be careful.
