In anyone's experience does claiming for a windscreen replacement on insurance effect your next premium at all? I know it wont effect my NCB even though thats protected but does it push up your premium in any way?
Damm lorries!!!
Thanks!

P.S it is a tiny chip probably the size of a modest pin head that about 5cm from drivers side edge that created an 8inch crack!!!

It will cost you your Glass Excess which is probably £50-70
My son's IS200 was "scarred by metal filings" windscreen, rear screen , 2 x side & 1 x Qtr light and it cost him £60 - Invoice was nigh on £1300. It has no effect on the NCB

This will not effect your premium or NCB.
Usual practice (I am with Direct line) is free repair or standard excess of £50-60 for a new one.
Obviouly you will need a new screen so check your insurance schedule but as I say it will not effect your NCB.

Last year we were in the UK in my Spanish registered car, which is covered by Linea Directa (no prizes for guessing the connection to a well know UK motor insurer).
A small chip, garnered on the M1 Northbound to our destination developed into a huge crack overnight.
A telephone call to our insurers was made (in English, too) and they said get it done, pay for it and we''l re-reimburse the full cost Duly repaired, I faxed the repairers invoice to them (from the UK) and before we returned to Spain the payment was in our bank account. Not only that, they 'phoned us in the UK to say payment was on the way, emailed us to my Gmail address to say the same and when we returned home there was a message on our answering machine checking whether the money had been received.
No effect on N.C.B. plus such brilliant service - not a surprise we renewed with them is it?

It may affect your insurance at renewal if the number of claims puts you over any particular insurers limit, reducing your choice but won't affect the NCB.
|
|
Correct. It won't affect your NCB, but too many windscreen claims will affect the premium. The definition of 'too many' depends on your insurer.

I'm sure there was a thread about this recently - more about do you have to report it as a 'claim' when renewing or more likely changing insurers. ISTR the answer was "yes".
