What happens when Mercedes tell you that you need a new 'moon roof' at a cost of thousands?

I see what the customer means, but answer me this:- Why do the americans call it a moon roof when we call it a sun roof?

Historically, sunroofs have been opaque and open to the air to allow the sun to shine directly into the vehicle, while moonroofs have generally been transparent or semi-transparent and designed to remain closed while allowing muted light to penetrate the vehicle.
Variations have become the norm and often combine the features of the Sun and Moon types into a single device. It is not uncommon to see tinted glass that can retract fully like a traditional sun roof, remain closed like a traditional moon roof, or tilt to allow for airflow.

Jeez, five years on and I did not know that I had a sun roof, moon roof combo!
However I did know that letting light in is what I like about it, much better than the opaque sun roofs in many BMW's etc.

He actually identified the dealership in question. {Thanks for the info Hugo. I've removed the link (although it's no longer valid anyway) so as not to associate the HJ site with it - DD} I wonder if he received a letter from their lawyer, or was pursuaded to pull it via financial incentive.
