Doesn't the point that swaying the door between 6 - 8 inches open causes the other locks to go crazy suggest that this is just a broken wire between the post & door?
I don't see how anything more sinister could cause a fault with symptoms exactly like this on a Xsara. The BSI unit doesn't have any way of knowing how far open the door is, merely if its either open to some extent or fully closed. It knows the door is fully closed from the information sent to it by the lock mechanism, there are no traditional type courtesy light switches.

Are the electric windows having prob;ems at the same time? if so it may be a broken earth in the door loom.

On a multiplexed Xsara the BSI won't let the electric window operate if it *thinks* the door is still open, so an electric window not working could still be a symptom of a fault with the locking, even if the earth to the door is fine.
