I drive to work each day along a dual carriageway, on the opposite side of the road is a speed camera, now I recently noticed that it has started going off for no reason, I thought that it might be set off by high-sided lorries coming towards it on my side of the road, but this isn't always the case.
You can see that the flashing has started to distract drivers who are going well within the limit as they think that they have set it off (it flashes as the cars have just passed the last road marker line).
Do cameras do a self-test and flash at nothing?

Some flash all the time, others at oncoming traffic when they shouldn't. But you get a ticket and ask them to prove it was working correctly! In this police state, you're guilty until proved innocent, and anything that's run by the state is always correct.
