What makes a car cheaper to repair? - jango
Hi everyone.

My wife is learning to drive and so we'll need to get a runabout. Since she's not a born driver, I am expecting that there might be one or two collisions in the first years of ownership!

So I'm looking for advice on what makes a car cheaper to repair from accident damage. Many years ago I was told that colour-coded bumpers were something to avoid, but nearly every car seems to have them now.

Is there anything else to watch out for?

To put this into context this is what we're considering:

Budget: £2000 - £4000
Engine: 1.2 litre petrol
Insurance: Group 1 or 2
Doors: 4

All advice gratefully received.
