What would you put on rubber door seals to stop them sticking to the door?
When I open the door the seals are stuck really hard, I'm afraid one day it might tear them. There is also the issue of the rubber generally drying out and decaying, What would you use to act as a preservative for the rubber?
For both problems
How about clean motor oil?
or
linseed oil?

I was advised to use silicon grease, as used by plumbers. It comes in a little pot and is cheap. I put some on a rag, and then wipe all I can off. I then wipe the rag on the rubbers where they contact the door. The idea being to deposit as little as possible on the car.
It certainly stops the doors freezing to the rubbers in the winter (may take a few months to prove this, if ever, with global warming).
I understand there could be an issue with silicon if the car ever needs painting, which is a good reason for using as little as possible.

Halfords stock a rubber lubricant:

Thank you, Ill look into the silicon grease/lubricant. The doors stick in the summer (prolonged periods of doors being closed). The talcum powder idea (below) would work to stop the sticking in summer.
I think I'll start with talcum powder.

Good stuff that 3 in 1 silicon lube they sell in Halfords - just as useful as wd40 - but of course for rubber components !

A good application of Autoglym Vinyl & Rubber Care is what I use and it makes the door rubbers look brand new.

I use silicone lubricant from Wickes. A small tube only a couple of £ iirc.

Have to say I just use a silicone spray, same one I use on the window runners, does the job and only about £2 if you get it from toolstation rather then a car shop.
