How do I take off my Passat gear knob - Halmer
It's looking a bit battered these days and I just wondered how to actually remove it so that I can replace it with a new one.

Does it unscrew because if it does it's very tight!

It's a 2002 VW Passat.

On a 2002 its crimped on.
Pull up the gaiter and release the clip

Spring the sides in gently and it pops out.

If it only the top disc that is "battered" you can just replace the disc by using a knife edge to prise off the disc.

My disk is very battered and has now fallen off due to busted clips.

Does anyone know the VW part number for just the disk?

Does anyone know of an alternative supplier?

6 speed 2002 Passat.
