My sons Passat 115 PD is generally down on power, no MIL light.
Suspect it may be MAF so would like to remove it to clean & possibly have to replace it.
The retaining screws look like they are 5 point tamperproof torx.
Does anyone know what actual size it is.
Has anyone found a stockist to buy just the one size, as most seem to just sell an expensive complete set.

The Torx sets can be bought from the majority of car spares shops.
Screwfix sell the Torx sets and also the tamperproof Torx sets also, they are a Torx but with a hole in the centre to go over the raised piece in the centre of an anti tamper proof bolt.
I bought my set from Asda 2 years ago - Draper for £4.
Screwfix do a set in a mount, part number 45370/86 £3.99. page 713 of catalogue 86

Sure its torx? torx are 6 point.
my vag mafs are five point. If so Franklin tools do a security set that works.

sorry OP you know its 5 point. The franklin tools set was under £10. Ive posted about it in response to someone elses question so you should find the details by searching.

Cleaning is not an option - the contamination is usually road salt baked on to the element.
When you get your new MAF sensor, you will find you get the complete assembly (inc air tube), so no need to disturb the tamperproof screws, just a coupe of hose clips.
Find a Bosch Agent, they are about £75, and you get a genuine Bosch replacement. for part number have a look at this link , its a bit user unfriendly though.

Thanks 547, see what you mean by the Bosch site. Got as far as finding the sensor on their site, clicked on it & get reset to the start page again, eventually gave up.

Yes, I had noticed that bell boy. I guess he needs to include the part No so customers can check compatability. But seller has good feedback & only seems to sell MAF's. Think I would risk it & no rip-off postage either.

They're £85 exchange from your VAG dealer with 12 months warranty, there's plenty of posts on here re the quality of the ebay items.
He guarantees the item will reach you in good condition, but will it work and for how long?
