Did anyone else read the article on biofuels in Saturday's Daily Telegraph?

What does this mean for us with modern CR diesels, how do we know what we are filling up with?

Interesting read, I bet the technically erudite author would seem quite capable of writing a contradictory article giving the benefits of modern fuels, if the title demanded it :)
Regarding increased waxing, We know there has been a British standard for diesel fuel for years, -5c in Summer, -15C in Winter.
Even if that has been now overtaken by an EU standard, the fuel still has to meet it, it can`t be transported by tanker if it does not.
So why the concern over increased waxing when the legistlation wont allow it?
Thats just the waxing component of the legistlation. Problems brewing?
Maybe not :)

Irrespective of the anti-waxing components in the fuel, most modern diesels have a fuel-line heater fitted as standard;this usually turns on when the ambient drops below 5c.

Here we are

Enforcement and Sanctions
As part of the existing regime for road transport fuel quality checks, trading standards will be responsible for ensuring any biofuel sold in the UK meets the appropriate European and British standards.
