I have a 51 plate version - 35,000 miles, generally good for year, but 1st gear becoming difficult to engage when wheels are turning and 5th gear crunches when engaging. Clutch is good. Anyone know if I have a big problem looming?

I'd be interested to hear feedback too then. Wife's Seicento is also 51 plate and occasionally 1st is also difficult (and reverse can crunch). Only about 20,000 miles on ours.

1. Check that clutch cable is correctly adjusted.
2. Replace the gear oil, it is not a scheduled service item but the oil will have deteriorated after several years.

You say the clutch is good ? to me it sounds like typical clutch replacement time.
