Having just arrived at work, i went to put my drivers side electric window up and nothing happened. Not even a buzz from the motor. Does this mean the motor has gone? Is it just seized? Can it be freed or is it a new motor job? Reply | Report as offensive | Link

Hi there, Remove the door panel and check if you have at least a 12 volt supply to the motor when operating the window switch. If so, it is likely that the motor is gone. If very low voltage or zero, then it will be else where. Hope this helps, Cheers, Graham. Reply | Report as offensive | Link

I thought it may be the switch but i swapped it with the one on the other side. It still didnt work. Although the passenger side switch has a black casing and the drivers side is red casin, im presuming this would have something to do with it? Reply | Report as offensive | Link

you have me confused now i have visions of the mk3 being a double switch at the drivers side just above the tray in the door,the passenger side same place but a single switch? if this is the case then you cant swap them around or are they on the dash and both single switches? if so yes swap them round as i say im confused now i also have a vision of a mk4 escort in my head where the switch is by the door pull time to go home me-thinks Reply | Report as offensive | Link

The switches are at the bottom of the centre console in front of the gear stick (with the boot release switch). Swapping them didnt work, so could is it the switch or something else? Reply | Report as offensive | Link

Good chance switches have gone,common on these and often pack up together. Check for 12 volt supply to switch,if you have a supply its the switch -- Steve Reply | Report as offensive | Link
