Is the transplant engine heavier than the original and have you had to mod the front suspension? What mpg do you get? Sounds interesting!

Is this it?

If not it seems sticking a P76 in is the southern hemisphere version of sticking a Rover 3.5 in.
If theP76 is a bored/stroked Rover ally engine, then it will be lighter than the original Stag which had iron block and ally heads. The front suspension should have been reworked.
Mine has the Stag engine but a ZF 4 speed auto to replace the BW35 3 speed box, this brings the revs down to 2600 from around 3800 at 70mph, also much smoother.

Absolutely, I put the Rov V8 engine in an MG Roadster (not MGB), years ago and found that this engine is lighter even than the 1.8 B-series engine fitted as standard.

Hmmm glad to see you got rid of the original back end. Would have been interesting to see 4.4 ltrs worth passing through that!

Lovely car the Stag......trivia point, it was meant to have pop up lights of an unique design, i.e. with the lamps were they were on production bit with pop up lids. Triumph couldn't get them to work every time do they were dropped !
Anyone remember Hazell the TV Series in the 70s - he had one.
