You might have more luck if you widen the search to include VW - SEAT's are VW's in a different body.

no mate, they are the same vehicle............i am having a bit of a game with my mpv , i recently had a cambelt and service done, two months later, my engine is sounding like the tappets are faulty (1.9 tdi) , having took it to an independant garage , he reckons there is another fault connected to the tappets and this is due to the cambelt change......he also reckons the cambelt will eventually snap if not sorted. i have been back to the garage where i had the cambelt changed, they have had a good look today and cant see any problem with their work, but are willing to try an engine flush and new oil/filter at no cost to myself, to see if it will clear any problems with the tappets.Thats why i am trying to find a mechanic who knows what he is doing..... to see if i have a problem or not.

ifty,

I don't know chapter and verse about the oil requirements and the many oil specs for VAG diesels, but, if your engine is a PD engine, the garage who did the service should have used oil which is specifically suitable for PD engines - check your receipt and find out what oil they used.

If your engine is a PD and the garage didn't use PD oil, then, it is possible that you have ruined the heavily loaded fuel injector cam lobes. If the garage used the wrong oil, you may have some redress against them if this is the case.

Until you are sure I'm wrong, I wouldn't continue to run the car or allow anyone to flush or drain the engine oil - analysis of the oil in the sump may be your only way to tell that your car has been incorrectly serviced.
