I'm picking up my nephew on Friday somewhere near the M6/5 interchange. My sister is going to drop him off but rather than meet at Frankley services or Hilton, I thought it would be nice to meet in a decent pub/hotel just off the motorway.
Can anyone recommend something decent.
Cheers.

There is a Holiday Inn a few hundred yards north of the M6/A34 Junction 7 - never been in.
There is always the IKEA cafe at Wednesbury, Junction 9. Not ideal at the moment because there is no access onto M6 South at Jn 9 (roadworks).

I would advise not going to the Park Inn, which is at West bromwich, just off J1 M5.
Wording amended slightly - DD

I heartily recommend -
1 - buying a copy of 'off the motorway', by Travel Publishing
2 - never ever going anywhere near Frankley services. I don't think it was bottom of the poll of service areas last year, so it beggars belief what the other places are like. And the only place I know that is nearly as bad as Frankley is Strensham - what is it about the M5 ?
3 - if sister can be persuaded as far as J5 on the M5, then the Robin Hood Inn on the A38 in the direction of Droitwich, a few 00's of yards from the motorway junction, does a fine range of food and beer, 12:00 till 21:00, and had an interesting range of fruit cocktails for the drivers.
It goes without saying, but i ahve no connection - just called in on the way to Somerset last august, and it was good enough to call in on on the way back, and again when I had to go down to Hereford in October

p.s.
I can't remember whose the draught bitter was on the way down to Zummerzet, but I do remember falling asleep while SWMBO drove
I also remember the excellence of the steak sandwich and the chra-grilled chicken sandwich
and on a motoring note, there seems to be a collection of land crabs parked above the beer garden (Austin 1800's)
