Is the EPS unit on a Corsa B 1.2 16v the same as Corsa 1.0L (3 cyl. version) and would this rectify the problem of extremely light steering to left and much more effort to steer right ? mally 434

The hard sterring could be down to seized or worn ball joints (either at the end of the steering rack or as part of the swivel hub). Have you had those checked before condeming the EPS?

Many thanks for the early reply. The eps unit I got from ebay is from 1.2corsa 16v but it is identical in part no. and I've fitted it but the problem still remains. I guess I'll check your recommendations and see if that solves the problem. Kind regards, Malcolm(mally434)

Not sure if they are the same unit. From other comments on this site in the past, your description matches the symptoms of failing electric power steering - some units Vauxhall replaced under warranty.

Many thanks for your early reply. I got the eps off ebay and it is identical with part no. and connections and therefore I fitted it but the problem still remains........ do you have any further suggestions particularly with the mechanical side ? Kind regards, Malcolm(malzstx)

its worth checking the alternator output, if on the low side the first thing to stop working is the eps system
