I have just hade an e-mail regarding numberplate paint @ £18.75 inc postage
it is supposed to block your number being recorded!!!!
has any one tried it,?
how effective is it ?
does it work?

No its not.
Was watching Road Wars on Sky last night and they pulled a golf driver for having the paint on. Plate visible to the eye but nothing showed up on the VASCAR. Points and £s.

Plus Plod-u-Like can probably tell by looking at your plate that there is something 'odd' about it and pull you under Construction and Use regs, or something like that.

I've never seen a test on any of these products that haven't proved them to be rubbish. Hair lacquer sprayed on the plate is another much trumpeted dodge for fooling the camera. Soon disproved if you use it and then take a photo of the plate with an ordinary camera and flash, the number is as clear as can be.

Do you really think they would fill a precious cell with a troublesome citizen like you Dox when there was revenue to be made messing about elsewhere...?

But with digital technology in photography, authority can use a negative image of the plate to find out the no.plate, me thinks some forces do this.

The only thing you can do with German plates is take them off due to the fact they are embossed lots of the younger end use a CD swinging in the windscreen but I think this is an urban myth,modern camera techniques would diecipher a number plate even if you painted out with black paint.

If the positive image is obscured by whatever, how would turning this into a negative make it legable?

Nope never tried it but let us know if it does work for you ! An LCD number plate where one stroke of the letters being replaced by a LCD strip (E become F) etc is probably a better option :)

The only thing that works is revolving plates as on Aston Martins.

On Road Wars the other evening a car was stopped when its number plates appeared blank on an NPR camera. The driver was prosecuted, so there must be a product that works.

If no, it's illegal anyway (and a waste of time.)
