'Official' diesel upgrades - CDTi Astras - k3lvc
I seem to remember recently reading that Vauxhall were offering an 'official' (i.e. warrantied) upgrade on their 150bhp CDTi Astras but now can't find anything about it.

Is anyone aware of this and whether it's likely to be usable for the remainder of the GM group 150BHP diesels ?

Saab dealers offer Hirsch upgrade 175hp on their cars. Warranty friendly.

It might be based around the Astra 888 sporty model, IIRC that's 180bhp but backed by full warranty etc.

There is also the VXR Performance Centre that can perform manufacturer backed upgrades. They're the guys who make the 888 Astra.

IIRC, you can upgrade the 1.9 CDTI 16v (either the 120 & 150 models in the Astra) to around 185bhp just by doing a software re-map.

Confusingly, the Vectra has an 8v version of the 1.9 CDTI 120 and only uses the 16v for the 1.9 CDTI 150. Which means a CDTI 120 in the Vectra is not as tunable as the CDTI 120 in the Astra...

Cost is around £500 or so + possible increased insurance premium based on percent power increase from standard...

I think some tuning companies are offering upto 205hp (remap) on this engine, both in the Alfa and the Vauxhalls. I think I read the Saabs remap a little less, due to some difference in the ecu or sofwtare difference.

From what I've seen of performance graphs on www.vectra-com, 205bhp is on the flywheel, translating to more like 185bhp at the road wheels.

Nice headline figure for a 1.9 litre 4 pot diesel though! :)

Thurlby Motors offer genuine 200 bhp conversion with full warranty support (they are an official Vauxhall dealer).

It's supposed to be amazing and still return >45 mpg in daily driving.

Cheers
