citroen xsara heater fan - daewoodave

heater fan is on full speed and cannot be altered.citroen tell me it is either the control panel or fan unit itself. how difficult is it to swap either item or is there a trick to fix it.citroen have offered to test each part to see which is at fault.the bad news is i have air con fitted to the car which citroen have said will make it complicated.thought citroens were complicated anyway.does mean that it will be very expensive to fix.thanks in advance for any help or advice.

I had this problem with my Xsara estate. Mine is a 2002 model with a/c. On my car, it was a faulty fan unit. The fan is removable from the passenger side interior. A lot of wiring has to be ?teased? out of the way, but otherwise not too difficult?there is enough wiring slack on the fan unit itself to make un-plugging the connections less awkward. Once removed the control module (the circuit panel inside the fan) can be changed by dismantling the fan unit itself. My local Citroen parts dept supplied the module for about £58. My fan unit was the Valeo item.

Hope this helps

i understand this part could be known as a blower module.if so it has to worth a try at £13 vat.on the gsf website in forums, their is a posting with the excat same problem as my xsara.i understand that he changed this component and solved his prob.this would be a lot cheaper than 1hrs labour at citroen dealer.do you have a part number or do i try and explain to gsf parts man what i want.

Are you sure you can't keep this away from Citroen and DIY repair as far as possible... then use a Citroen or aircon specialist if that fails?

It seems Citroen are going to be charging a minimum of £320!

It must be worth a days work at the weekend to take a chance on swapping the module with a £13 GSF replacement. Then if the aircon still doesn't work get it to an air-con specialist for a re-gass and check at £70 or so.
