VW Golf Mark 3 rear axle disassembly - vwdriver
Hi,

I'm at university and I'm using a mark 3 golf axle as part of a project. Could anyone give me intructions of how to disconnect the axle from the brake drum/ hub assembly? We want to get rid of the vw axle and attach an axle we are making to the old brake drums.

In this sort of situation, i think a Haynes manual would be useful. Is documentation procurment not part of the project planning?

Thought that would maybe be the case. Can someone tell me where it is best to get a Haynes Manual from? Are on-line versions available or is a library the best bet?

Any Halfords, or other car accessory place.
Are on-line versions available or is a library the best bet??


No, apart from the Haynes website itself, where manuals can be purchased.

Not sure if libraries lend them out (I imagine not because of the state they might come back in - greasey fingerprints all over them). You'll probably only be allowed to photocopy the page(s) you require.

The Haynes manual dos not detail removing of the actual stub axle but the 4 bolts that retain the brake backing plate is an very good starting point. Regards Peter
