Just seen an Alfa GT JTD , 05 reg for £13999 and a Mazda RX8, 55 reg for the same price on the Trade sales website. Are these prices fixed or is there any room for negotiation (no p/x)
What's the buying experience from here like.??

With most of these 'Trade Sales' places there is little to no room for price discussions, you might get £100-£200 off if you try hard and the car has been sitting a while.
The experience is just like a supermarket transaction. Very professional but you won;t feel like you are spending £14000 pounds like you would at a normal garage. You will just be a number and be processed accordingly.
Overall though, the saving is what you should be looking at. I don't know if this is a good price or not.
Good Luck

i went down there a while back when i was considering buying my S Type (secondhand).
they had all their Jags right next to a main dealer Jaguar selection which made me chuckle.
for me, the buying experience wasn't right, so i walked away........i couldn't fault the prices,but.... when i went to speak with someone and ask some questions, i got the impression i was a nuisance and should buy what's there or clear off
all i wanted to know was how often stock came in, was there anything else in the pipeline, could i order something (obviously new), because i had some 'definites' in my head that my new car had to have
the young salesman could have been flogging me a CD in a record shop, for all the customer care i got. I was made to feel like a teenager asking for a bank loan and having to be refused.
If you don't mind indifferent service and are prepared to take what they've got, then in my opinion ther prices were well keen.
I don't know about the pre-regeristing stuff or non UK spec, because i didn't stay that long enough to ask/check
bottom line is, no doubt, 'you get what you pay for'

Hope you have access to plenty petrol for the RX8 and it does not like short journeys, also uses oil at an alarming rate.
Alfa ? Is the reliability any better than is previous years (Leopards spots and all that)

I'm aware of the pros and cons of the Mazda. I just thought it was a keen price, which generated a bit of interest.
Doesn't sound like the place is for me

I live fairly close and have bought a couple of cars from them. The sales people are on commision only, they get about £50 per car. Therefore they need to sell quickly and often to make a living. Their working conditions are fairly pressured so Im afraid its a basic service. This is a complete buyer beware outfit. Check every inch of the car, its not a lot different than buying at auction except you dont have to hand around all day bored to tears waiting for a car.
Believe me this is not John Lewis!!!

I've bought or helped to buy 5 cars from them in 4 years, 3 for family and 2 for my business. All have been around a year old with 2 years manufacturers warranty left which we've had to fall back on a couple of times but no more perhaps than if buying new. The sales people are OK, they know a lot about the cars but being commission only, they want to know if you're going to buy today, if not they leave you alone but you can look at hundreds of cars, sit in them and compare and contrast in a no pressure environment. Some of their cars are imported (leasing companies, Belgium, Holland) but not many so check the spec is what you think it is. Some have run over 12 months and have missed the first service which means no manufacturer warranty but they tell you this and the cars are £several hundreds less than other ones in warranty. The huge majority are in good condition with no body damage, are average mileage only and genuine cars. A lot are ex rental, mainly National which could mean diesels filled with petrol but maybe less likely than auction cars. They'll let you check the car and all documents properly but not test drive it outside the compound. Politely refuse the finance, 3rd part warranty, gap insurance, paintwork and interior protectors and buy a car for significantly less than elsewhere especially dealers of any kind. Check when you pick up that the radio still works, that you have the code, the full set of documents, 2 keys and it hasn't picked up any bodywork damage since you last saw it.

I bought 'trade sale' car, it slang it turns out for "camshaft damage"

Thats the difference between Trade Sales in Slough, and a "trade sale" ;-)
I bought a new Fiesta from them in 2002 and got a very, very good price, service was efficient and swift, totally unpersonal but I wasn't particularly bothered by that given the money that I saved.
I didn't have any problems with the car until I part ex'd it for a new style one the floowing year. I would recommend them based on my limited experience.

I bought my current car from them, no problem at all. I bought an eight month old UK spec car, so I knew I had balance of manufacturer warranty. In fact I have need warranty work (Vectra - horrid noise from front suspension - I should have read the HJ car-by-car page first), which was carried out by a franchised Vauxhall dealer with no fuss.
You need to ask yourself whether you are confident that you know what you want, that you know what warranty (or not) you are getting, and whether you prefer the 'full service' dealer or the savings that come from visiting an out of the way bit of Slough. Pays your money, takes your choice.

helped a mate buy a 2.5yr old Xantia from them quite a few years ago and agree with what everyone else said here. no pressure environment (we spent half a day wandering round and looking cars) but soon discovered that you had to be picky as though there was about 8 or 9 Xantias, we got it down to the one with the least (almost none I seem to recall) amount of body damage. did have it's full service history though (on computer printout) and was a fairly straight and honest car that had spent it's life shuttling between Colchester & Blackpool.
price was good though and whilst it needed 4 new boots & was due a service, it was significantly cheaper than we'd seen at dealers for a similar car. He nailed it around for a few more years and only lost a couple of grand in that time so was happy with what he got.

I can remember going with my Dad about 14 years ago or around then, the stock was mainly ex-high milege fleet cars or company cars. In those days high miles were frowned upon, do correct me if im wrong!
