Do they really park Smarts at right angles to the kerb or it it an HJ windup ?

|
When I had one I did on occasion aslong as the road was suitably wide - sure saves reverse parking!

Most definitely do - there are usually a few near my office parked in such a way.

yes seen that quite a bit in London. Pity that the car has grown in its updated form. there must be a few owners who had the car specifically to fit on a a very short driveway or in an odd shaped spot and now can't find anything that suits besides a Gwhizz. It must happen I imagine with all sorts of cars bought to fit a certain spot and then can't be replaced with a new model.

We did it a couple of times. If you can drive straight in 9 times out of 10 you can park properly. There's also a danger that if the cars next to you move if two more get close you have to get in through the boot as you can't open the doors!

That happened too often at the local shopping centre carpark. The spaces were laid out when people were driving Ford Anglias and Mini Minors. The attendant told me that he had frequently observed mature ladies climbing in through the hatch. The landlord re-marked the lines a couple of years ago.

When in Rome a couple of weeks ago, Smarts were very popular and a clear modern alternative to the original Fiat 500. Many were parked in very tight spaces equivalent to right angles to the kerb.

hi
I run a handyman business and use a smart to get between jobs - one of the reasons for getting it was the ability to park nose in! You would be amazed how often I can squeeze into spaces left by other cars. Parking in Edinburgh is a nightmare and it makes my life so much easier!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cheers

Forgot to mention in my post that we're looking at getting one as a pool car for work - we just need to borrow one to see if it fits in the binstore! It's either that or scooter courses for everyone.
