VW MKIV Golf Security - Peter D
I have just opened a MK IV Golf with the plastic key and started the engine. Surely the immobiliser should have kicked in. The Alarm was set using the Fob and the Led was flasking to say it was set but the plastic key unset it. Any Ideas. Regards Peter

My MkIV Bora came with two "proper" keys; never seen a plastic one.

I've always understood that the little plastic temporary key has all the attributes of the two main key fobs on a VW so what you have described is exactly what I would have expected to happen.

I think the plastic key has the transponder in it as well so it should start the car.
