I just watched the original 1974 version of this film...if you haven't seen it already, do so!
It doesn't new music, the noise of that V8 is heaven...

I know I've seen the 1974 original, but its so long ago I can't remember it at all. I've been meaning to buy it for ages; I'll pull my finger out and get myself a copy. According to www.imcdb.org/movie_71571-Gone-in-60-Seconds.html looks like there's some half-decent musclecars and a real mix of other old stuff in it?
When I was about 7 or 8 years old in the back seat of my dads car waiting at a T-junction, an early '70's Mustang Mach 1 pulled round the corner going the opposite way. It had near-unsilenced sidewinder exhausts and as the driver accelerated away in a high gear, I could not just hear but also feel the individual thud-thud-thud of the V8, rattle through my dads car and almost made my teeth vibrate! It had a lasting impression on me...

Increasingly common carjacking trick. They stick an envelope to your rear window...
Hmmm, maybe more urban myth than increasingly common? www.snopes.com/crime/warnings/carjack.asp
But I agree there's nothing to stop it being tried by carjackers

It is known for scroates to hear about "urban myths", decide it sounds like a good idea (since they dont have to use valuable brainpower inventing scams for themselves) and lo and behold urban myth becomes urban reality.

Hence the spate of Ford radio thefts because someone said the chips inside could be used to receive free cable / satellite.
