David Wickens, the man who founded Southern Counties Car Auctions - the forerunner of British Car Auctions died recently.
He set up the business in 1946, operating from a marquee in frimley , Surrey. The business developed, changed its name to British Car Auctions and moved to Blackbushe Airport.
His brother was for many years the senior auctioneer and to see him working was the best entertainment going!
Ther is quite a long obituary in the Telegraph today (Tuesday)
