Z4 or not - cdbr
Some sort of mid life crisis going on here but I am tempted by the Z4 for a two contract hire deal - 2.0se, mainly for the fun of it, top down etc. The difference in price between contract hire over 2 years from an independent company and BMW franchised is £190 per month - is there a catch? Is the car a lemon?

I think the Z4 is a damn good car. A great drive and great value compared to a Boxster, say. I'd have one - though it would have to have six cylinders...

Can't comment on the pluses or minuses of leasing deals etc.

A lovely choice of car. Tell me, when do you enrol at hairdressing college?

If you call an Z4 a hair dresser's car, I suppose you SHOULD call EVERY two seat open top car a hair dresser's car. Tell me, have you ever driven a Z4?

There are some amazing lease deals out there, usually not via the obvious dealers. I know you can get a fully specced Audi A6 2.0Tdi SE Auto with SatNav for £259pcm on a 24 month deal. So the Z4 being £190 pcm less than a dealer supplied car is not so worrying. Go 4 it!

Yes, I have driven a Z4. Very nice indeed. You hairdressers are very lucky.
As for all 2 seaters being hairdressers' cars: not E-types or Austin Healeys - they're extensions of another kind.

They're just masochists' cars. The rest of us have moved on 40 years.

thanks - the bmw salesman said it was a great deal. the best he could do was to offer a 3 year pcp at the same payment & deposit but that leaves me owning a car potential problem I think?

No idea about the financial deal, but one of the guys here has a Z4 - its a very pretty car and really a lot of fun to drive. Its pretty quiet/warm in the winter with the roof up as well.

My sister has one on lease. It is on its 3rd or 4th dash to date, in 2 years. It will be going in again soon to coax the reversing sensors back into life again.
It has also had a few more niggles which I can't remember offhand.
At the end of the lease (and warranty) it will be going back for good before it starts costing her.

On the plus side she quite likes the Mini Cooper they give her when sorting the Z4.

My Hairdresser rides a Ducati GT1000. Does that make that bike a Hairdresser's bike ? She doesn't think so.

The Z4 is an acquired taste, not for me despite it's credentials. But I'd prefer that to a number of alternatives. I'd want to a six pot though or a diesel, do they do a diesel ?!
