On my vw passat the front brake sensors have been taken of and the wires have been joined together yet the check brake warning light is still coming on ?
They are probably not properly joined or some other break in connection.
The two wires should be joined as you have, they don't short to earth as on very early designs of wear sensors. Have you checked front and rear brakes? I don't know if the rears have them too on your model. What age is the car?

Hi Ashok its a 2000 on an x reg passat {Added to subject header - DD} the front wires have been taped together and there are no sensors on the rear pads ?
That should work on a B5, maybe salt water has got in? You can disable the feature by recoding the instrument cluster. If you have to take it to a VAG specialist or dealer for some other reason, you can have them do this with the diagnostic equipment while they're at it.

Thanks Ashok i think i will start by re doing the connection and drying them out. Its realy anoying every time you turn the ignition you get aloud beep and then the error message.
Why are they sorted out. Did someone fit the wrong pads thus no sense wires. Regards Peter
I don't blame him for shorting them out, I will do mine, they go off before the pad is worn and. Instead of just getting a message, you get stupid ear-piercing alarm sounds.
When i bought the car they were all ready cut of and taped together, But your right Ashok that alarm sound goes right through you.

but better perhaps than going through the barriers at the bottom of an alpine pass!
