Has anyone an idea what the torque setting should be for alloy wheels on a 2001 1.2 Corsa or can tell me where I might find the technical info?
The haynes manual says 80 lb ft for wheel nut tightening but doesn't say if this is for a steel or alloy wheel. It sounds a bit high for an alloy.

That figure is correct, regardless of steel or alloy wheel. Same value for my Vectra, and my Dad's Astra.
(actually the handbook says 110 Nm, which is close enough to 80 lbft),

On all the cars that we have owned, the torque figures for the alloy wheel options have been higher than for steel wheels.
The reason is simple, steel is 'springier' than alloy and hence the wheel acts as a kind of shakeproof washer; because alloy does not show this effect so much the torque is higher.

Most alloys I've had have steel inserts in the holes, so same torque for steel and alloy. I suspect most car specs are around 80 ft/lb - big pull on supplied wrench is fairly close.
