Joy of Joy,
Head on this morning on the way to work with youngish deer, straight out of the hedge head on 50 MPH , car has suffered total bumper destruction creased OSF wing creased bonnet. Luckily the deer didn't roll up the bonnet. Sad thing is i've just replaced all the dampers and springs over christmas.Bonnet catched was unlatched by the impact and bonnet flew up to windsreen. Car was repaired 15 months ago for another frontend smash with 3rd party who were liable. NSF Wing headling, bonnet ETC.

Whats the chances of repair for a 2nd time on insurance? 1997P reg Mondeo TD Estate 120K

I think you have to ask yourself how much a 10 year old mondeo is worth and compare that with the cost of repair. Then ask yourself if it's worth losing your no claims bonus. It may be that your insurer will write it off anyway.

How are you off for venison, just now?

Bad luck! Been there, done that and it cost my insurer 1,200 1992 pounds to fix it. Horrible moment, isn't it? I remember just having time to realize I couldn't avoid it, grit my teeth and plough into it.

Meanwhile, these people might be able to help you ;-) : shop.rivercottage.net/rcv2/shop/event_display.jsp?...2

Wild deer are liable to have eaten crops that have recently been sprayed with insecticide, and some ot these toxic things accumulate in liver and kidneys... I don't really know if it's true, but I have been advised to discard the offal if the animal has been living in the wild.

Is that your professional experience, Mr Willdebeeste? You are I think from Africa, are you not?

95% certainty that it's going to be classed as an unecomonical repair.

Car was in good condition prior to accident, 120K , FSH, 6 Months MOT left on it, no obvious rust ETC, what's it worth?

Yes, whatever it's been eating it's a better bet than factory-reared pig's liver - or probably any other bit of such a pig.

And sorry Cliff, not Africa - mine was a roe deer that emerged from a hedge beside a B-road in Hampshire. Although if you look closely, there are herds of creatures like me sweeping majestically across the plains here. (Glad I didn't hit one of those - would have made for some frosty looks at family gatherings, and a much larger repair bill for my Escort.)
=;-) (Hey, I've just invented an emoticon for a winking wildebeest!)

Yes, the mind boggle at the sort of livers you'd get out of those...

Isn't there a law or somesuch that you can't take the roadkill if you killed it, but have to leave it for the next guy?
I remember Wogan & Pauly going on about roadkill at length a while back on the breakfast show.

The law has changed. You can now pick it up if you have hit it.

I came accross a fresh roadkill roe deer outside our house, dragged my prize in sharpish, butchered it, and cooked it.
Couldn't eat it as it was too strong for my tastes. Found out later it was because it had not been bled as it would normally have been in the proper circumstances.

And it would have been hung for a while too - some expert here will tell you for how long I am sure, Same goes for pheasants and other such road kill - even good beef is hung for 28 days.
