Citroen C5 front windows - rustbucket
The front drivers electric window seems to have a mind of its own it works as per manual for a while then sudenly will exhibit the situation of stopping every few inches until the switch is activated ,then moves another inch and so on.It takes about 8 or so switch activations to close completely.I have recalibrated as per manual but still the same. Then it will resume as nothing wrong.Has any one had similar problems??I thought it just might be an intermitent switch. Thanks for any suggestions.

Wait for about 15 mins after turning off the engine.

Disconnect the battery - count to ten - reconnect. Lock and unlock the doors using the key in the lock. Lock and unlock them with the remote (resets the immobiliser otherwise car won't start!)

Now operate each electric window in turn - fully down - then fully up and just hold your finger on the button at the top of travel for a second (resets sensors)

Finally, you'll have to re-tune radio and reset the clock, auto wipers, auto headights, cruise control etc - all as per handbook.

This should sort it out. You might even find it has resolved various other little electrical gremlins. Think of it as rebooting your PC.

Hi C5 Owner
Have you had to carry out this procedure yourself for similar problems?

Seems very odd that a PSA multiplexed car like the C5 would need the radio retuned & auto lights & wipers reset after a battery disconnection?

About once or twice in 5 years - disconnecting the battery tends to help C5s in all sorts of ways - reboots everything!
